Subject: who are the stars of the teams that have come up

It's always the way, new teams come up and you have a bunch of players you've never heard of.

For the first time (I think) in my life, I will be watching Hull City compete against my beloved Arsenal

    and know nothing about them.

Stoke!  Isn't that where we got Lee Dixon?

West Brom! Isn't that the team that has the supporters that jump up and down shouting "boing"

    when they score?

So there you have it.  My knowledge of the newbies.

    Can anyone help me?

Sorry fella but you really need to realise that the game is played beyond London. do yourself a favour and expand your own knowledge by actually watching some lower league football. You have to be taking the rip ?

.............and people can wonder why I don't live in England any more.

So ignoring the last comment and understanding that this is actually the Premier League section

and that the internet reaches further than those people just living in London or England.

If anyone else can help, I would be interested. Cheers.

Hull: Bryan Hughes is probably their best player to come up with them. Absolute work horse in the middle of the midfield. But will he be able to cut it in the Premiership? Jay Jay Okocha would have been their star if he hadn't have been released. Legend. Even though I'm a Grimsby lad, I will be supporting Hull all the way. Need to sign some quality players I feel, however, if they wish to stay up.

Stoke: Well, there will now be two Bolton's to watch in the Premiership. There unattractive style of play is nasty to watch but very effective. Ricardo Fuller being their best player in the Championship. But yet again, he had chances in the Premiership before with the likes of Portsmouth and he was garbage. I would say to watch Liam Lawrence. A class act on the wing. Chips in with quite a few goals as well. Played in the Premiership with Sunderland a couple of years ago and did well. However, need to sign more quality players.

West Brom: Should be a Premiership side anyway if you ask me. The best of the three teams coming up I feel. They have the best chance of staying up, purely because of the class of players they have and the way they play. Tony Mowbray has got the team playing really well. Back to where they belong. A shame they haven't got Zoltan Gera anymore as he has moved to Fulham, probably one of Albion's best players. However, they have a lot of other class players to watch. The likes of Bednar who scored frequently in the Championship, Greening the playmaker and Robinson the leader (if he stays).

    Hope I've helped.

Hull: Bryan Hughes is, contrary to belief, poor, as is Ian Ashbee.  Okocha was nothing more than a show pony, thank goodness he's gone. Giovanni is now the best player in the squad, the signings otherwise haven't been that good, they'll go down unless major pennies are spent.

     Awesome, thank you!

I see Nick Barmby is in the Hull squad, does he still get a regular game.

    The Fan's!!

Torres, Ronaldo, Fabregas, Drogba are all great but nothing compared to Scott McDonald. Ah 3rd October 2007 21:31. What a plonker Dida was.

Hull City are basically Barmby's pension service, we pay him but he hardly ever plays, it's even rarer that he plays to a decent standard.

Think you'll find it's spelt "Geovanni"

And I was taking about the players who have came up with the promoted teams. Not the players who are joining.

And Geovanni isn't exactly anything special. Hull really need to strengthen their defence in particular.

George Boateng is an absolute bargain in the centre of midfield for £1million

Lol apologies for the spelling and for not understanding who you were talking about.  In that case the best player to come up with Hull is Michael Turner, who took a clean sweep of the Player of the Year, Player's Player and CITYmag Player of the Year awards in May.  He's arguably the only player that will float at this level, and it's likely he'll be sold in January to a stable Premiership outfit, by which time Hull will most likely have sunk. I also agree with Tom that the defence needs major shoring up, especially if my predictions about Turner become true.

Yeah apologies about forgetting about Turner. A solid centre back. But hasn't played at the top level like a lot of players so it will be interesting to see how he adapts.

Hull also need a quality striker, badly.

Agreed, we relied far too heavily on Fraizer Campbell last season, although I still don't think he's a Premiership standard player (but he did score today against the Chiefs, fair play to the lad), Windass, Folan, Fagan, Garcia, Halmosi, Geovanni, Featherstone, France... To be honest the only fans crapping themselves at our ENTIRE attacking front line... are Hull fans.

    Haha yeah very true,

I think Phil Brown's gonna have to try and find a masterclass of a striker if they want to score goals and therefore attempt to stay up.

Alternatively we could just sod trying to win and play a 10-0-0 formation (could we stay up with 38 points?).  You're right, Brown will have to pull something out of his *** and get a master forward, theonly problem is who is available, and who would want to come?  A cheeky bid for Arshavin could be interesting, interest in him has dried up recently, perhaps he'd settle for trying to keep us up for £100,000 a week (his reported wages, courtesy of Sky).

Lol they might have to play that formation to stand any chance.

    Maybe Derby should've done that?

Could be a very interesting bid I have to say. But as you said, his wage demands are ridiculous.

Still, with all due respect to Hull, I don't think he would go there. Not even for that money.

Maybe a bid for a player like Saha? If United sign a striker, hopefully Huntelaar or Berbatov, poor Louis won't have much of a role to play in the team. A great striker when he's fit. A possibility.
